Motherhood

Motherhood

Question:
Hello!

As I think it is written quite vaguely and confusingly everywhere, my question is related to motherhood. I want to understand everything related to it in easy and understandable language. It is also important for me to know if a paid sick leave can be used from the beginning of the pregnancy until the motherhood itself and then to enter it.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:

Hello,

If we understand correctly, you are interested in everything related to receiving benefits from the National Social Security Institute (National Social Security Institute) for "motherhood".

In principle, if you meet the conditions, the benefits you will receive are of two main types:

- maternity benefit, which is paid within 410 days, starting 45 days before your due date.

- benefit for raising a child up to 2 years of age, which begins after the end of the payment for pregnancy and childbirth and ends by the time the child reaches 2 years of age.

To receive benefits, you must meet the following conditions:

- at the time of maternity leave (which occurs 45 days before your due date) you must be insured for general illness and maternity (which means that you are employed or self-employed, which is insured for all social and insurance risks)

- at the time of maternity leave to have at least 12 months of general illness and maternity insurance.

The amount of the daily cash benefit for pregnancy and childbirth is 90% of the average daily insurance income for 24 months back from the month in which you go into "maternity". If you have not been insured during some of these 24 months, the minimum insurance income will be taken as the basis for the calculations. The amount of the monetary compensation for raising a child up to 2 years of age is determined every year during the voting of the National Budget.

Regarding the documents that are provided to receive benefits - they are submitted by your employer. You will need to provide him with a sick note from your doctor.

Regarding sick leave from the beginning of pregnancy - they are also issued by your doctor (if necessary, of course). If he deems it necessary, he will issue you with a sick leave, which you must again provide to your employer. For these sick leave you will also receive temporary incapacity benefit, as the average daily benefit you will receive is 80% of your average daily benefit for the last 18 months. Also, in order to receive compensation for temporary incapacity for work, you must have at least 6 months of general illness and maternity insurance and be insured for general illness and maternity by the date of discharge.

These are the basic guidelines we can give you. The matter is very extensive and we can not explain everything about motherhood and the specifics associated with it, but we believe that the most important thing we have described above.

We enclose two links to the NSSI website, where more detailed information is provided
