Maternity leave

Maternity leave

Question:
Hello!
Is my maternity leave paid? My accountant told me it was unpaid and I would even owe 10% of minimum wage to my boss - is that right?
Thanks in advance!

Answer:
Hello,
There is no special leave that you are entitled to after maternity leave and childcare leave up to 2 years have expired. The leave you can take is your accrued paid or unpaid leave. During the time you were on maternity leave, you have accrued unused paid leave that you are entitled to use. The manager has the right to refuse you the use of paid leave, including unused paid leave from previous years, but must ensure that it is used until the middle of the following calendar year, as long as you have notified him at least 14 days in advance that you wish this to happen .
You can also take unpaid leave. He again uses the manager's permission. Until the child reaches the age of 8, you can use 6 months of unpaid leave, if the child is not accepted in an institution with full state support (kindergarten, nursery school, school), and permission from the manager is not required. However, you will need to give him at least 10 working days' notice. These 6 months can be used all at once or in parts.

About the 10% you were told you owed - you probably misunderstood something. While you are on unpaid leave, you do not owe your employer any money.
We hope we have been helpful!
Greetings!
