Blog - online subscription book
Blog - online subscription book
Question:
Hello!
I would like to ask you for a consultation regarding exercising a free profession.
I work on an employment contract in a company appointed at 8 hours, I have 50% TELK. I want to practice an additional freelance profession. It is about a blog, about an online book with a subscription on my site and a freelance activity. In order to be able to apply a paid subscription to the books on the site, I need to register. I am interested in what it takes to be able to perform this activity. And how should I self-insure.
Thanks in advance!
Answer:
Hello,
What you need to know is that in order to register in the Bulstat register as a self-employed person, you must attach to the registration documents a copy of a Diploma, Certificate or other document that certifies that you have professional skills in the field, in which you state that you will work. In your case, it is very important to define exactly the object of your activity. If it is about your personal creativity - in this case, a book that you have written and plan to distribute electronically through your or someone else's website, then the income from this activity would not be insurance income and therefore you will not need to register in the Bulstat register. However, if in parallel with this you also work on customer orders - you receive an assignment to write some text, then the obligation to register in the Bulstat register already arises.
In any case, income from copyright and license rights is subject to a 10% tax, and the income itself is reduced by 40% of legally recognized expenses and the insurance contributions made. In addition, after you have a decision from TELK for 50% incapacity for work, the Annual basis on which the tax due will be calculated will be additionally reduced by BGN 7,920.00 (if you have been active all year) or by BGN 660.00 for each month for which you performed activity.
And the last thing you should keep in mind - The minimum amount on which you will have to be insured (if you are subject to insurance) is BGN 780.00 for 2023 (which is also the amount of the minimum monthly insurance income). At the end of the year, an annual equalization is made, and if the insurance income received from your activity is higher than the insurance income on which you paid insurance, you bring in the difference. There is also a maximum insurance income on which insurance is due (BGN 3,400.00 per month for 2023). If the sum of your insurable earnings (including your income from an employment contract) exceeds this amount on a monthly basis, you will contribute insurance up to the amount of the maximum insurable income.
We hope we have been helpful!
Greetings!
