Reflecting an expense in a purchase journal

Hello!
If I submitted a zero VAT return until a month ago and I currently have an invoice for a service rendered to me, do I need to include this invoice in the purchase journal for the same month of submission or can I do it at a later stage?

A purchase invoice can be included in the purchase log and accordingly the tax credit can be used up to 12 months after the month in which it was issued.
