Does unemployment benefit stop when starting an internship program?

Question:
Hello!
I am currently on the stock exchange and receiving unemployment benefits after being laid off by a company where I was employed on a contract. Can I apply for an internship program at a company during the benefit period? If I am approved, will I be able to continue receiving unemployment benefits, especially if the internship is paid? What contract are the interns on?
Thanks in advance!

program internship, paid internship, unpaid internship, compensation for unemployment, accounting services, Varna, Ruse, Plovdiv, Burgas, Sofia
Answer:
Hello,
According to the labor code, "Internship contracts" cannot be unpaid. Receiving remuneration for the work you put in, be it under an internship contract, means that your unemployment benefit will be suspended. Subsequently, when the internship period expires and you do not conclude an employment contract, you will be able to resume receiving unemployment benefits.
We hope we have been helpful!
Greetings!
