There are different types of maternity and parental benefits that are paid by the NSSI. In order to be entitled to such benefit, your wife must meet two important conditions - she must have been employed on the date of maternity leave and have a total insurance period of "general illness and maternity" of 12 months. (which means that she worked on an employment contract or was self-insured). In your case, at the moment, as far as we understand, neither of the two conditions is met. In this case, your wife will only be able to receive a one-time childbirth allowance and a one-time pregnancy allowance.

If your wife starts working and is therefore insured for "general illness and maternity", she will be able to start receiving benefits from the moment she completes 12 months of insurance. Ie for example, if we assume that your wife is currently in her third month, and is now employed, gave birth on the due date, then at the beginning of the 6th month after giving birth, she will be able to apply for compensation. The benefit itself is calculated on the basis of insurance income for the previous 24 months, as the amount is 90% of the average gross income. Also, if your wife is employed, she will be able to take sick leave and receive compensation for the time she is in sick leave. Here, however, there is a minimum insurance period of 6 months in order to be able to receive sick pay. That is, if we assume again that your wife is at the beginning of the third month and will now be employed, then at the beginning of the 9th month, she will be able to receive sick pay.
