Additional income during maternity leave
Additional income during maternity leave
Question:
Hello!
I have a question related to an online sales site. The site will have my own things that I do such as graphic design and photos from a printer, products such as calendars and other things. I am on maternity leave and want to generate income. I got to the point of making a site and realized that I cannot offer and sell on it. How can I easily have a sales site, since I am not a legal entity, do not have a company and have not been involved in online sales before?
Thanks in advance!
Answer:
Hello,
The easiest (but not necessarily the best) way is to file a personal income tax return at the end of the year, in which you declare your income. You will owe 15% profit tax and 27.8% social security contributions on the profit made during the year.
The fact that you are on maternity leave does not limit you from conducting commercial activity and receiving income from it. You can either register as a freelancer or register a company in your name. The important thing is that the activity you will perform is different from the activity you perform for the company from which you are on maternity leave. Another important point is that you do not have general sickness and maternity insurance (GMI).
We hope that we have been useful to you!
Greetings!
